IRVINE, CALIF., March 13, 1995 -- Continuus Software, Inc. (formerly CaseWare, Inc.) a leading provider of software configuration management (CM) solutions for the client/server marketplace, announced today the immediate availability of its Continuus/CM and Continuus/PT products on Silicon Graphics Inc.'s Indy, Indigo2, and POWER Indigo2 family of high performance graphical workstations and servers.

This announcement enables Continuus customers to harness the power of Silicon Graphics' visual computing systems, as well as broaden the range of client and server platforms supported. Additionally, this expands Continuus' market opportunity, particularly in the manufacturing and government contracting arenas, where three-dimensional computer-aided design and manufacturing are prevalent.

"Support for SGI underscores Continuus' commitment to offering customers a broad range of powerful computing platforms," said Marty Cagan, Vice President of Development. "The combination of the world class Silicon Graphics software development tools with Continuus/CM makes for one of the best Team Engineering environments available on the market today."

The Garland Division of E-Systems, Inc., a defense electronics company, has recently purchased Continuus/CM and Continuus/PT to run on Silicon Graphics machines. E-Systems has purchased Continuus initially to develop and maintain software for its commercial ground processing applications for satellite photographic imaging. Continuus 4.0 will be accessed by 80 E-Systems developers at two separate development locations.

"The availability of Continuus on Silicon Graphics was key to our decision to purchase this product," said Tom Szalay, software configuration manager for the E-Systems Garland Division. "Continuus' configuration management sytems and Silicon Graphics together provide the graphic development capabilities required for complex software projects such as photographic imaging."

The Continuus Family and Silicon Graphics Workstations

With the growing reliance of government, technology, and commercial industries on software solutions for running business operations, efficient and cost-effective software development and maintenance has become a critical concern. Developers today require a wide range of hardware platforms for building and testing software which may be used in a variety of hardware, database, and operating system environments. Also, the demand for developing software on high-end graphical workstations to accommodate three-dimensional graphic applications for engineering, manufacturing, or new video entertainment applications is a growing area.

The Continuus solution, comprising Continuus/CM for configuration management, and Continuus/PT for change and problem tracking, provides a complete CM environment for development teams with large, complex software projects. Targeted at commercial and in-house software development teams, Continuus provides the industry's only solution with automated, workflow functionality to manage the entire change and development lifecycle. Additionally, Continuus offers customers a flexible set of consulting services to help companies fine-tune development processes.

With today's announcement, customers may now use Continuus/CM and Continuus/PT in a native Silicon Graphics environment to develop high-end graphical applications. Continuus products now support both Silicon Graphic's Indy, Indigo2, and POWER Indigo2 client and server platforms. Indy is a desktop system that combines a digital color video camera, an intuitive user environment, digital media tools, and advanced three-dimensional graphics, with industry leading imaging and computing performance. Indigo2 and POWER Indigo2 are high performance workstations which deliver the most powerful graphical functionality available in a desktop environment, and also offer a choice of XL, XZ, and Extreme¦ graphics support.

Pricing and Availability

Pricing for Continuus/CM and Continuus/PT on the Indy, Indigo2 and POWER Indigo2 platforms under the IRIX operating system starts at $4,000 per simultaneous user; applications are available on a floating license basis. Continuus products supporting the Silicon Graphics platforms are available today.
